This month we speak with Hannah Nuttall from Hannah Makes Things.
So Hannah tell us a little bit about Hannah Makes Things?……….
I started making jewelery whilst I was living in London doing my masters in industrial design. It started off as a way in which to make ends meet.
When I relocated to Manchester I came to Afflecks to start my own business and it has been growing more successfull ever since.
How long have you been trading at Afflecks and what have been your fondest memories during this time?……….
I opened the shop on my 24th birthday in 2007, I have been here nearly 2 years now, my fondest memories are of all the fantastic people that I have met here, it truly is a fun place to work
You have some very interesting and unique designs in your shop, who inspires you and your work?………….
Lots of my jewelery is made from kitsch plastic bits, found items and re-worked vintage. My fascination for old trinkets came from my dad who took me around lots of antique shops when I was growing up. Designers that inspire me are definitely Lulu Guiness and Alexandra McQueen. I also have a passion for good music and like to play Manchester favorites The Smiths and The Doves whilst I work.
