Councillor Bernard Priest will open the launch and a number of guest speakers including Police & Crime commissioner Tony Lloyd, Sylvia Lancaster OBE, The Sophie Lancaster Foundation, Nazir Afzal OBE, Chief Crown Prosecutor.
Victims of Hate Crime including Sajay Sood-Smith from BBC’s The Apprentice will speak of their experience.
Closing remarks will come from Wasim Chaudhry – Divisional Commander at GMP.
Staff and stall holders have had their picture taken and will be part of a photo exhibition that will be displayed within Afflecks. Mark Kennedy has made a mosaic showing the Hate Crime logo and this will be on permanent display within Afflecks.
Afflecks is now a
third party reporting centre whereby staff are reporting officers having undergone training with GMP.
Victims of hate crime can report incidents at Afflecks in confidence and then we report directly to GMP using a secure database, this provides the police with intelligence regarding crimes that may have gone unreported for a number of reasons.
