Dawn has been a part of the Afflecks’ family for 7 years now and she’s still going strong! Dawn was the UKs 1st handmade lolita brand to have a shop.
Tell us a bit about your shop
My shop is called Tokyo Royale, I was the UKs 1st handmade Lolita brand to have a shop but now I focus more on Japan-a-Rama style geekery and sell a variety of styles- Fairy Kei/Gothic Lolita/Cosplay/Sweet Lolita/Steampunk. I make effort to support other local Independents and stock Quirky UK labels like Genki Gear fairtrade tees, Vampire Bunnies handmade cartoon dresses and skirts, Devilish Designs steampunk jewellery, Link on retro geek jewellery, Kittiy Krafts bows, Harajuku Hair lolita Wigs, Vera Jane hair bows, Tempesta Couture handmade cosplay hoodies aswell as my own small labels Oh Mr Gosh originals and Tokyo Royale limited items
I love it here, It was my dream since I was a teenager to have a shop here. There’s a great network of support and I’ve been lucky to make decent friends here over the years.
What do you do outside Afflecks?
I’m an Internationally published Alternative model which I’ve been doing under the name of Kira Krueger since 2005. I tend to organize group shoots for other people these days and have a few projects i’m working on.
I’m one of the hostesses for Analogue Trash:Manchester’s Premier Alt. Electronic Party which is held bi-monthly at The Zoo, I recently crewed a massive Chiptune Festival, and I do stalls at anime conventions.
Tokyo! Animes! Japanese films and bands.
And tell us a random fact!
I used to have 4 foot long hair that was unbleached/dyed and raised over £1000 for MacMillan when I did a sponsored hair cut and the hair got made into wigs for kids on chemo via Little Princesses.
Dawn has everything you need for your Anime to Cosplay needs! Make sure you go say hello when passing, she’s based on the 2nd floor next to Soho’s.
